WooCommerce product personalization comes with a challenge the rest of the catalog doesn’t have: the product doesn’t exist until the customer designs it. At Amoriva, Consultoría EHERO’s own brand, we solved it for digital gifts, invitations, and announcements: the customer uploads their photos, writes their letter, sees the full result before paying, and receives it instantly, with a link and a QR code that open on any phone. Here’s how we built it and what we’ve taken to our clients’ stores.

The challenge: a product that does not exist until the customer makes it
In a typical store, the product sits in the warehouse and the product page describes it. Not here: each gift is created with the photos and words of the person buying it. That means solving three things WooCommerce doesn’t do out of the box:
- Customize before paying. Nobody pays for a gift without knowing how it will look.
- Show it in full before charging, exactly as the recipient will see it.
- Deliver it instantly, with no waiting and no manual work on our side.
How we solved it
A step-by-step customizer on the product page
The customer never leaves the product page: they work through the steps (who it’s for, the photos, what they want to say, the letter, the details, and the extras) and finish with a full review. Each product’s steps live in a single definition file that both the store form and the gift generator read. That way, adding a new product doesn’t require touching code, and what the customer is asked for always matches what gets delivered.

A live preview before paying
As the customer types, they see the gift exactly as it will look on the recipient’s phone. It’s the piece that builds the most confidence in the purchase: nobody pays blind for something so personal.
Automatic delivery with link and QR
As soon as payment goes through, a generator publishes the gift as its own page, with its own URL and QR code, and emails it to the buyer. Nobody prepares orders by hand: the store runs the same at four in the morning as it does on a Monday morning.
One-tap payment
Card payments and, at checkout, Apple Pay and Google Pay. When a purchase is almost always made on a phone, every field the customer doesn’t have to fill in counts.
Extras without complicating the order
Extending how long the gift stays online, adding music, or adding more photos are chosen during personalization and added to the same WooCommerce order. The customer decides right when they need it, not on a separate screen.
A style for every occasion
Each gift’s design is kept separate from the mechanics: a birthday gift opens like a box with a ribbon and a wedding invitation like an envelope with a wax seal, but under the hood they work the same way. Changing a design or launching a new occasion doesn’t break anything that already works.

Invitations that do the work for the couple
The digital wedding invitation with RSVP collects each guest’s name, plus-ones, and menu choice, sends an email with every reply, and keeps the full guest list at a private link. The couple no longer has to chase RSVPs over text.
Three ways to sell custom products in WooCommerce
Not every store needs the same thing. These are the three approaches we use, depending on the product:
| Option | When it fits | Its limit |
|---|---|---|
| Extra fields on the product page | A text to engrave, a size, a color, or an order note. | The customer does not see the result before paying. |
| Customizer with preview | Products where the customer designs: a mug, a print, a card. | A template has to be prepared for each product. |
| Custom development | When the product is generated at purchase or follows its own rules, as with Amoriva. | It takes a dedicated project, but it does exactly what your business needs. |
What we learned (and applied in other stores)
If the customer customizes it, let them see the whole thing before paying
Nothing does more to ease purchase hesitation.
A single source of truth
When the form and what is delivered read the same definition, “I ordered one thing and got another” mistakes disappear.
Separate design from logic
It lets you launch new occasions in days, not weeks.
Automate delivery from day one
A digital product that depends on someone preparing it by hand does not scale.
Do you sell customizable products?
We can bring what we built for Amoriva to your WooCommerce store: a step-by-step form, a preview before payment, and automatic delivery, tailored to your product, whether physical or digital.
Frequently asked questions
Can you offer WooCommerce product personalization without coding?
Yes, if all you need is to collect information from the customer (some text, an option, a file): an extra product fields plugin will do the job. When the customer needs to see the result before paying, or the product is generated at purchase, you need a customizer or custom development.
How do you show a preview before payment?
The product page renders the result from what the customer types and saves it with the order. That way, what the customer approves in the preview is exactly what gets delivered.
Does it also work for physical products?
Yes. Personalizing and seeing the result before paying work the same way. What changes is delivery: instead of publishing a page, the order goes into production with the design the customer approved.
